Abstract

Introduction: Sciatica is an overwhelming ailment in which affected person may experience pain and/or
paresthesia in the distribution of the sciatic nerve or an associated lumbosacral nerve root. To treat sciatica
people and therapist rely on the electrotherapy, stretching and strengthening techniques but A wide variety of
ailments, including typical bodily problems like back pain and mental health issues, are treated and resolved
using cupping. It is thought that this treatment works by balancing out any abnormalities in the interior bio field,
like reestablishing the flow of “Qi(Blood). Delving into the physiological aspects of wet cupping, it elucidates its
potential to alleviate sciatica like discomfort. The purpose of the review is presenting a nuanced understanding
of wet cupping’s impact on pain management, inflammation and overall patient outcomes. The objective of
exploring the importance of wet cupping in sciatica is to assess its potential as a complementary therapeutic
intervention to treat pain, inflammation and symptom improvement.
Methodology: The methodology involves a systematic literature review, analyzing peer reviewed studies
on wet cupping and sciatica. Data analysis and synthesis aims to extract key findings, evaluate intervention
outcomes and provide a comprehensive overview of wet cupping’s efficacy. Relevant articles from (Pubmed,
Pedro, Science Direct, Google Scholar) will be carefully examined.
Results: After analysing and reviewing various articles and youtube videos it was found that wet cupping
has substantially reduced pain, and improved functional outcomes and minimal adverse effects emerged
highlighting the promising role of wet cupping as a complementary intervention for sciatica.
Conclusions: Wet cupping has proved to be a promising complentary therapy for sciatica. The consistent
positive outcomes in pain reduction and functional improvement underscores its potential significance So wet
cupping may be included in the treatment protocol of patients experiencing sciatica pain for relieving pain.
